When did you make this film?
2011

What was this for? Was it a personal project? A job?
This was a part of my Master of Fine Arts Thesis project at the University of Colorado, Bolder. The full project consisted of a 15 min HD film, trailer, sixty page research paper, and exhibition of major set pieces and mechanical sculptures.

Can you tell us the story behind the film?
The Dust Machine involved filming with a six wheeled, NASA moon-rover inspired, four-foot tall remote controlled machine throughout the American west in Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California, as well as filming underwater in a pond located in northwest Pennsylvania. Two years were devoted to building over twelve miniature and two life-sized sets out of recycled parts from a local junkyard outside of Boulder, CO. At the junkyard I became known as "the guy who was building a space station."

What camera did you shoot with?
Sony FX100
