When did you shoot these photos?
Over the past 10 months.
What was this project for?
It's a personal project.
Can you tell us the story behind photos?
This project is about my girlfriend Meki, whom I met through New York nightlife. I took the opportunity to take candid pictures of her, as I believe they are genuine expressions. She came from simple beginnings from a small village outside Manila with no restaurants, no scene, no buzz. Everyone had a humble living and was satisfied. But she was hungry for the world. She barely spoke English when she arrived in New York. She embraced this lifestyle, or better yet the lifestyle devoured her. She's looking for more satisfaction, striving to reach something that she believes is out there.
What cameras did you shoot with?
Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Sony RX100
