“Wrestling with a black bear on a shoot for Animal Planet, was the most fun I've had at work recently,” says studio manager Brian Kerrigan. In its secluded ground-floor location, Picture Ray is ideal for whisking in a bear, or anyone who may want a certain level of calm privacy. “We keep our clientele list private,” Kerrigan says. “We have a large number of high-profile people who like the fact that they can come into town, shoot at the studio and leave without being spotted.” Warm and inviting, offering equipment rental and every amenity, the studio is located in the heart of Chelsea. Once inside, however, clients immediately forget they are in the middle of a busy city. The drive-through garage facilitates moving large subjects—such as cars and motorcycles—on and off the cyc. Thanks to the drainage system in the floors, splashy water shoots are not a problem.
