Safe Transport
Make sure your equipment is well protected when you’re between locations using the Pelican 0550 Transport Case. Two integrated automatic pressure-equalization valves keep moisture out and prevent vacuum lock, ensuring the case is easier to open at any altitude. Like all of Pelican’s Protector Cases, this model features open-cell core wall and polymer construction to protect sensitive equipment from severe conditions. Optional heavy-duty caster wheels are rated to handle up to 250 pounds. A robust honeycomb-style, reinforced lid provides extra support for stacking multiple cases. When open, special locking hinges on the lid ensure that the case stays open for easier access. Estimated Street Price: $909 (without foam). Contact: Pelican, (800) 473-5422, www.pelican.com.

Sharper Image
Save some room the next time you head out on assignment using the Davis & Sanford Traverse tripod. The legs fold up over the head, saving several inches of space. The tripod opens up to a full size of 57 inches, folds down to 16 inches and weighs just 3.3 pounds. The independent legs have two stops to shoot down to 16 inches or up to 57 inches. The legs are constructed of strong, durable, lightweight aluminum with quick-twist rubberized locks. Estimated Street Price: $119 (with BHQ8 ballhead); $169 (with BH11 ballhead). Big Screen
The NEC MultiSync PA241W is a 24-inch desktop display that delivers crisp, accurate images with improved color coverage, a sleeker design and enhanced connectivity. It covers 102 percent and 99.3 percent of the NTSC and AdobeRGB color spaces, respectively, and that’s a 72-percent increase over its predecessor. With a 38-percent smaller footprint size, the display frees up space on your desktop. Improved cable management enables simpler setup, and a new 10-bit DisplayPort and USB hub increase input connectivity options. Estimated Street Price: $1,079. Portable Flash Generator
The Profoto AcuteB2 600 AirS gives you the option of using a Lithium Ion Iron Phosphate battery for higher stored energy, faster recycling times and less weight. The next-generation battery technology quadruples battery life and is capable of producing up to 200 flashes at maximum power and more than 12,000 flashes at minimal. The recycling time has been shortened to between 0.08 and two seconds. The unit measures 7.5x7.5x5 inches and weighs about eight pounds. The generator comes with the Profoto Air Sync radio slave system, which can be triggered at up to 1,000 feet. Estimated Street Price: TBA. Contact: Profoto, (914) 347-3300, www.profoto-usa.com.

Mobile Field Office
The Logistics Manager is Think Tank Photo’s first rolling equipment case for photo and lighting gear. With 13.7x27.5x8.2-10 inches of internal room, the case offers many configuration options for holding cameras, lenses, tripods, strobes, reflectors and more. Security is multitiered with a TSA combination lock to secure the main zipper, a rear security cable and combination lock to secure the roller to an immovable object, and a Security ID Plate with online plate registration that allows lost gear to be identified and returned. For easier transport, the handle extends, and the wheels are replaceable. Estimated Street Price: $599. Contact: Think Tank Photo, (866) 55-THINK, www.thinktankphoto.com.

Flashpoint Softbox
To create better portrait lighting, check out the 22-inch Flashpoint Octa 55 softbox. The unit assembles by simply snapping into place and uses a flicker-free, fluorescent, spiral bulb rated at 5500 degrees Kelvin. Emitting very little heat, it can be used all day long, and when you’re done, the unit folds together easily like an umbrella. Estimated Street Price: $39.
