During the winter months, the photography market heats up.
This is a time of year when the camera manufacturers often bring out
their newest, trickiest, most advanced products to a waiting press
corps. In the fall of 2007, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax
and Sony all made announcements about new high-end cameras, and by the
beginning of winter, we were seeing these products in camera stores and
rental houses. |

Leading Professional Photographer and Contest Judge Selects Grand
Prize Winner and Twenty Favorites Now Posted on Tamrons On-Line Gallery
December 17, 2007, Commack, NYThe overwhelming majority of great
photographs, especially those including people, has one thing in
commonthey effectively capture, express, and convey human emotions. In
other words, photographs that are judged to be the best are almost
always those that evoke a strong emotional response in the viewer.
Bearing that simple but profound concept in mind, Tamron, acclaimed for
manufacturing innovative lenses of superlative quality, created an
entirely new kind of photo contest, An Emotional Appeal that debuted in
2006. Instead of basing it on the usual range of specific subject
categories, we asked all entrants to submit pictures that best express
the universal theme of human emotion and emotional interaction.

Digital Photo Pro recently
completed its fourth year in production. Since we began, weve been
publishing six issues per year, but in 2007 we decided to add a seventh
issue and give it a unique theme. The DPP Masters issue looks at the
work of some of the top photographers and artists in the field. As you
look through the issue, youll notice that some of the photographers
have appeared in DPP before and some are new to our pages. In each
profile, we examine a particular facet of the photographers work where
that photographer is a true master.
