Post Capture Selective Focus

Panasonic’s Post Focus feature sounds more mysterious than it is but it’s quite useful for both creative and practical reasons. In Post Focus mode, the camera shoots a series of 4K images with varying focal points. In playback, you choose the focus point via the touchscreen, using focus peaking and magnification to select the area of focus. Each time you choose a focus point, you have the option to save it as an individual, 8 megapixel files. This feature is especially handy for focus stacking in post processing software. To date, the function will be available for select Panasonic LUMIX cameras: the GX8, G7 and FZ300 via a free firmware update at GMT 1:00 a.m. on November 25, 2015: in time for those family Thanksgiving pictures: http://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/index.html
