Photo Video West World Cup of Photography F.A.Q.

Who can enter the contest?
The World Cup of Photography is open to amateur and professional photographers worldwide.

Where do I submit a photograph?
All entries must be submitted electronically online at www.photovideowest.com. We do not accept entries submitted through mail. 

How much are entry fees?
Early Bird (ends March 1, 2013) entry fees are $25 (Professional) or $20 (Amateur) per single photograph. After March 1, 2013, entry fees are $35 (Professional) or $30 (Amateur) per single photograph.

What is the closing deadline for submission?
All entries must be submitted by midnight (PST) on March 31, 2013.  See website for early deadline.

What types of files are accepted?
Files must be submitted electronically in jpg format and may not be larger than 4 MB, no bigger than 1,500 pixels on the largest side, with a maximum resolution of 72 dpi. Please be advised that if selected as a winner, you will need a higher-resolution photograph on hand, at least 300 dpi in order to be considered. Files should be named lastname-firstname_title.jpg (no special characters in the filename).

How many photographs can I submit?
There is no restriction on the number of photographs you can submit.

May I enter the same photograph into multiple categories?
You may not enter the same photograph into more than one category. Photographs will be disqualified if entered into more than one category.

Should I add watermarks, signatures, borders, logos, etc. to my photographs?
Please do not include logos, borders, watermarks, copyright notice, or signatures on photographs. Entries with any of these additional elements will be disqualified.

Do you accept black and white photographs?
Yes. Additionally, color photographs changed to black and white are acceptable in all categories.

Do you accept non-digital photographs?
We do not accept hard copies of photographs; however we will accept high-quality scanned photographs, in digital format.

Can photographs be manipulated or enhanced?
Yes. Digitally manipulated and enhanced photographs are accepted, provided they abide by our Official Rules and Regulations.

What are my usage rights for my entries?
By entering the contest, all entrants agree to grant the World Cup of Photography and its producers, Photo Video West, Fast Forward Event Productions and Werner Publishing permission to use submitted work without compensation and notification for approval, for promotional purposes of the World Cup of Photography in any of their electronic media, printed materials, or advertising. All published images will be credited with the photographer’s name. Entrants also agree to allow their images to be reproduced in third-party newspapers and magazines (printed and electronic) solely for the purpose of promoting the work, photographer, and the contest. 

When will the finalists and winners be announced?
The category winners and Grand Prize winner will be announced on our website in April 2013.

What are the prizes?
Grand Prize and Category prizes to be announced.

Who selects the winners?
The Grand Prize winner and Category winners are selected by a panel of judges.

Will I be notified if I was NOT chosen as a finalist or winner?
Due to the large number of entries, only the winners will be notified personally. All other participants will be notified via email if they are not a winner.
