Rich Blues & Greens
Eskimos have nearly a hundred names for snow, mainly relating to color. Legend says they can “see” more colors of blue because acute color perception allows them to accurately gauge the strength and stability of the thin ice sheet that separates them from the frigid water below their feet. Bad judgment results in severe consequences.
Our lives may not depend on getting the blues and greens “right” in our prints, but doing so is a sure way to make photographs appear natural, vibrant and alive. Think about it. Nearly every outdoor photograph you take includes at least some blue sky and some green vegetation—which is to say that blues and greens play a dominant role in nearly all outdoor photography.
These are some of the most difficult colors to reproduce, but the payoff is enormous. Realistic skies. Greens that aren’t muddy. Gentle variations in spring and summer foliage with lush, rich coloration.
The Epson Stylus® Photo R1900 uses a specially designed ink set that features new formulations optimized to yield richer blues and intense greens for landscapes and nature subjects. The new 8-color Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss 2® ink set produces rich, saturated colors and a superior glossy finish and feel. The Enhanced Gloss Optimizer and Advanced Micro-Encapulsated inks create photos with a slick, wet and shiny look.
The new Radiance™ technology, co-developed with the Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.), also maximizes color for images that pop and ensures reduced grain with smoother color transitions for a truly photographic look and images that really step off the page. Radiance technology is a breakthrough mathematical architecture featured exclusively on select Epson printers that optimizes how individual Epson inks are mixed to dramatically improve color transitions and reduce grain. The technology is built into the printer software, allowing for improved highlight and shadow detail, as well as consistent color under different display lighting conditions. What all this means to you is more vibrant color, all of the time.
