Synergize H.G. Wells once said, “Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature’s inexorable imperative.” Sounds pretty harsh, but many would say it’s reality. To meet this imperative, today’s photography adapts with digital innovation and imagination and addresses the restraints of time and knowledge.

Photography systems have always been limited by compromise by improving one point and giving up performance for another. In describing system design, the author of the article “Camera Systems In The Digital Age,” (DPP, May/June 2006) stated, “The strength of a digital system lies with the manufacturers’ ability to mitigate the compromises through integration of components.”

Photography’s past is filled with examples of ingenuity, not necessarily spontaneous, but taking place over time. Today, the change is fast, and systems grow quickly to adapt to changing needs and conditions. Your choices will determine how you keep up with your competition.
