  • Description: This project is about my girlfriend Meki whom I met through nightlife. We both enjoyed going out and I took the opportunity to take candid pictures of her as I believe they were genuine expressions. Knowing her more, I wouldn't have thought that she came from a very simple beginning - grew up from a small village 3 hours of commute from Manila, no restaurants, no clubs, no scene, no buzz. Everyone had humble living and was satisfied. But she wasn't. She is hungry for the world. She barely spoke English when she arrived in New York. Almost as if she was deprived of this side of life, she dived into the wild nightlife scene, head first. She was going out every night, sleep is of least importance and soon enough she knew everyone in New York and started working in the nightlife business herself. She embraced this lifestyle, or better yet the lifestyle devoured her. She was experimental, wild, intense, wide eyed, excited for what's next, looking for more satisfaction, longing, striving to reach something, something that she believes is out there.
