Grand Prize Winner
Scott Bell

Congratulations to Scott Bell, whose photograph “Toys Will Be Toys” is this year’s DPP Ultimate Creativity Contest Grand Prize winner. Bell receives a package of prizes, including a Sigma 8-16mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 DC HSM lens, a Gitzo GT2541 Carbon-Fiber tripod and GH2780QR head, a Tamrac Aero Speed Pack 85 Dual-Access Photo/Laptop Backpack, a PNY 8 GB Hi- Speed Class 6 SDHC memory card, a Duggal 16×20 print of his photo and a LumiQuest ProMax System. Bell tells the story of the photograph: “‘Toys Will Be Toys’ is a humorous addition to my self-assigned series titled ‘Girl In Danger.’ The series was conceived as a creative exercise to come up with different images that would fit that scenario. Some are obvious, others a little more subtle. For this one, I was wondering what all those macho toys would do if they could just get through those darn hard-to-open plastic boxes. For those of you thinking Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the boys have other things on their minds. The images were shot in studio with a Canon EOS 5D and Elinchrom strobes. I selected all of the elements to create a mock-up of how I wanted the image to appear; then it was passed off to retoucher Brian York who took it the rest of the way.” Go to the DPP website to see a gallery of all of the finalists at www.digitalphotopro.com.
