Please describe how you got this photo?
The model in this photograph was pursuing her career as an actress. So her primary goal was to create personality and characters within her photos. We told each other jokes and reminisced about different life experiences to capture those emotions. This was a happier memory. We also decided to go with a more retro feel for her character. The photograph was made at The Curtis Hotel in Denver, Colorado. It was perfect for that aesthetic. They had brightly colored walls and great lighting. In this image, the speedlite was used to fill the dark areas of the image and the lighting in the ceiling at the hotel was used to reflect in her glasses. The model styled herself as well and found many of her wardrobe items in thrift stores to obtain the 1960s feel.
