The fire men did an AMAZING job of localizing the fire. They took it on from all directions. This right in the middle of my office and the fire underneath the el train tracks. The fire was localized to one building and some how kept it from spreading to the building that literally was within inches of the burning building. Fire codes now require you to be 3 feet from adjacent buildings, however, most of these older buildings have been "grandfathered" in. Another fire a few years back left my friend's fiance homeless (and unfortunately lost a fire fighter during the battle). These men are my heroes for saving everyone and not getting hurt themselves. They did need to rescue a woman and her dog from the building next door, but all that was lost were material items.
