Lighting: Westcott FJ400 Strobe 400Ws
Because you can’t always count on shooting real estate photos in solely natural light, you’ll need an artificial light source to illuminate interiors and, on occasion, exteriors as well. For that, we recommend the battery-powered Westcott FJ400 Strobe 400Ws. These 400 watt-second strobes with a removable AC/DC lithium polymer battery will give you plenty of lighting power to make even the darkest rooms look bright and inviting in your images. The strobe’s 9-stop power range make it adaptable to a range of locations. You’ll get over 480 full power flashes per charge and recycle times between 0.05 and 0.9 seconds with the FJ400, which is impressive for a battery-powered light. The FJ400’s radio receiver works with a variety of Canon, Nikon, Sony (with adapter), Fujifilm, Panasonic and Olympus cameras along with Canon’s RT flash system. The FJ400 comes with a magnetic 5.5-inch reflector and three CTO filters to tweak the lighting output. Also included is a magnetic diffusion filter to soften the output. An insert allows you to add any of Westcott’s Rapid Box Switch softboxes and we’d recommend this rectangular, 2×3 model for real estate shoots.
