And for making huge, gorgeous photo prints, we turn to the 44-inch Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4100 ($4160). Along with outstanding image quality, the Canon PRO-4100 offers some handy ease-of-use features including an innovative automatic paper feeding and media reading system, which automatically loads and recognizes paper without human intervention. Just set the roll holder in the printer, walk away, and the printer, using sensors, will automatically feed the paper and pick the right media settings. We also like the PRO-4100’s intuitive, 4.3-inch color LCD touchscreen and the three dedicated buttons below the operation panel for the most used commands: Load, Feed, and Cut. Meanwhile, a new transparent window on top lets you easily see when printing has begun so you can check printed images and the printing size. The PRO-4100 uses an 11-color pigment LUCIA PRO inkset plus a Chroma Optimizer alongside a 1.28-inch-wide PF-10 print head with 18,432 nozzles to output photos at 2400 x 120 dpi. This results in stunning large-format photos with a wide color gamut along with beautiful black-and-white prints with deep black and finely detailed gradations. To cut down on ink waste, the Matte black and Photo black inks on the PRO-4100 have their own dedicated nozzles, so time-consuming and wasteful switching between ink tanks is not necessary.
