Epson SureColor P9570
And finally, here’s another excellent 44-inch photo printer, this time from (you guessed it) Epson. The Epson SureColor P9570, like the Canon PRO-4100 mentioned on the previous page, is a big investment in terms of price and space (these large format inkjets are beasts) but well worth it if you plan to regularly output massive, highly detailed photos. The SureColor P9570 uses the Epson’s latest UltraChrome PRO12 12-color ink set, which features one the widest color gamuts it in its class and requires no switching of Photo Black and Matte Black inks – a timely process that can burn through ink. The P9570 also features Epson’s revamped 2.6-inch PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead with dedicated nozzles for both Matte and Photo Black inks, which helps delivers print speeds up to 2.4 times faster than the previous generation printhead. A new print mode, Black Enhanced Overcoat, delivers improved DMAX for a wider contrast ratio in photo prints, better black density and clarity, improved sharpness, and reduced gloss differential on glossy and metallic media. Other features we like include a sealed roll media door to improve dust control; an in-printer LED light that lets you view photos while they’re printing out; the ability to handle both roll and cut sheet media; a new top-loading cut-sheet feeder door; and an internal rotary cutter designed to more smoothly cut most photographic and fine art roll-media types. The Epson P9570 also has a customizable user interface featuring a 4.3-inch color touchscreen control panel and redesigned retractable catch basket to help simplify printing and reduce production errors.
