Fujifilm X-E4
The Fujifilm X-E4 flew a bit under the radar when it was announced in late January 2021 but that’s mostly because it was overshadowed by the high-profile introduction of the GFX 100S. The Fujifilm X-E4 ($849) is a quality mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera nonetheless, and one any pro might pick as a second, smaller and more stealth body to have in your bag. The rangefinder-style X-E4 is also a great choice if you want to leave your heavier professional camera rig behind for a day of casual shooting. The X-E4 features the same 26.1-megapixel BSI X-Trans APS-C image sensor, Quad-core CPU X-Processor, speedy 0.02-second autofocus, and advanced color science that’s in the Fujifilm X100V, X-S10 and X-T4 cameras. But weighing just .8 pounds and measuring 4.77 x 2.87 x 1.28 inches, the X-E4 is the most compact interchangeable lens camera in Fujifilm’s X Series. Our colleagues at Imaging Resource recently posted their first test shots captured with the X-E4 and had this to say about the camera: “A much welcomed refresh…this new model maintains a compact and lightweight rangefinder-esque design with a built-in EVF and a sleek rectangular design. The styling of the camera receives several changes and updates, including a cleaner, more modern appearance, updated control layout, and a [180-degree] tilting rear [3-inch] LCD.” The Fujifilm X-E4 can capture 4K video at 30p and full HD at 240fps for slow motion capture. It has a 2.36M-dot electronic viewfinder and some with a signature Fujifilm feature beloved by film buffs: 18 film simulation modes including ETERNA, Bleach-bypass, and Classic Negative.

The first 4 choices are legit. The last one is part of the PR campaign to save Nikon and keep its pro users from going to Sony.
The Z9 may be officially announced later in 2021, but it might not actually be in the public’s hands until 2022. When Nikon releases a photo of it and says the body design may change, that means they still have a lot of work to do.
