Fujifilm Intros 40.2MP X-H2, Another Flagship X-Series Camera

New mirrorless camera aimed at photographers who want to capture "images in super-high detail"

Fujifilm just announced the X-H2, a mirrorless digital camera that features a new backside-illuminated 40.2MP X-Trans APS-C-sized sensor and Fujifilm’s speedy X-Processor 5. The X-H2 will join the 26MP X-H2S, which was announced in May, at the top of Fujifilm’s flagship X Series mirrorless camera lineup.

While the previously announced Fujifilm X-H2S is designed more for “hybrid” video shooters, the new X-H2 with its higher resolution sensor is aimed at photographers who want to capture “images in super-high detail,” said Victor Ha, vice president of Fujifilm’s Electronic Imaging and Optical Device Division.

The Fujifilm X-H2 does have some interesting features for video, however, including being “the world’s first APS-C camera to enable 8K/30P Apple ProRes internal recording.” The Fujifilm X-H2 will also offer over 13 stops of dynamic range for video.

Below is a rundown of the key features of the Fujifilm X-H2, which will go on sale in late September 2022 for $1999.

Fujifilm also unveiled two new lenses today: the Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R WR for Fujifilm’s X Series mirrorless cameras, and the Fujinon GF20-35mmF4 R WR for Fujifilm’s GFX cameras. The Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R WR will go on sale in late September 2022 for $999, and the Fujinon GF20-35mmF4 R WR will be available in early October 2022 for $2499.
