Coming up in the July/August issue of Digital Photo Pro, we profile globe-traveling photographer and Nikon Ambassador Bill Frakes.
Frakes started his documentary/photojournalism career at the Miami Herald in 1979, covering subjects ranging from Hurricane Andrew to Cuba, before moving on to shoot a wide variety of assignments for Sports Illustrated.
His long career has evolved over time, with Frakes’ co-founding Straw Hat Visuals in 2008, a transmedia company integrating stills, audio and video to create dynamic multi-platform stories. His most current project is the Nebraska Project. Says the fifth-generation Nebraskan, “The Nebraska Project is a love song to the place that’s given me so much. It’s a compilation of work my business partner, Laura Heald, and I have done in the state over the past three years.”
